Meet The BFC’s Latest NewGen Line Up

Since 1993, the British Fashion Council’s NewGen programme has played a key role in the ascension of some of the UK’s proudest fashion exports. Alexander McQueen, Kim Jones and Jonathan Anderson were all, at one point, recipients of the financial assistance, tailored mentorship and showcasing support at London Fashion Week that comes with being a part of the NewGen roster. As a result, when the names of the recipients are announced each year, it acts not only as a spotlight on exciting, young British talent active today, but also as a prophecy of who might be shaping the industry for years to come.

This year, the prize has had a bit of a shakeup to ensure that be the case, reflective of the BFC’s refreshed strategy that positions sustained, long-term support at its centre. Forged in partnership with Pull&Bear, this new approach “has evolved to provide stronger designer support and deepened investment at a pivotal stage of growth,” says the BFC’s chief executive Laura Weir. Since Weir assumed the top job in April 2025, she has been focused on providing greater assistance to designers as they navigate hostile conditions fostered by rising costs and an unpredictable market, shifting its role from promotion to tangible support.

With only so many spots available, Weir enlisted a crack panel of industry insiders and experts to select which designers made it onto the programme. Selected for their creativity, considered aesthetics and innovative processes, the panel was chaired by the BFC’s ambassador for emerging talent and the chief critic of Vogue Runway, Sarah Mower. Also enlisted was 10’s very own global fashion director Karen Binns, as well as Mulberry’s new creative director Christopher Kane, Dover Street Market’s global vice president Dickon Bowden and more. “Each of them have the calibre of creative individuality, energy and entrepreneurialism it takes to make London Fashion Week an exhilarating arena for encountering surprising ideas – and great clothes,” says Mower of the selected designers. “We’re incredibly grateful to the panellists who’ve given their expertise, mentoring and enthusiasm to the NEWGEN process this year, and over all the years… I’m massively grateful to everyone who devotes so much to making this happen together.”

So, without further ado, these are the designers on the BFC’s NewGen lineup for 2026/27:
