Roksanda: Ready-To-Wear AW24

To the Tate Britain for Roksanda, whose community of talented, empowered, creative women is ever expanding. Joining the Redgrave clan and Zawe Ashton, the newest recruit is Zendaya who recently wore one of the designers deconstructed trouser suits for a movie promo.

The AW24 collection was inspired by a visit to the architect Le Corbusier’s tiny 12-square-foot holiday cabin in the south of France. A mural he painted at the house inspired her deep experimentation with texture, for intense tapestry-like, layered looks draped over the body. These artsy, crafty pieces were lavished with hand-work, with some talking 200 hours to make. The sunlight and even the view of the sea from Le Corbusier’s windows inspired gowns with wired, zipper-hems that tumbled in waves and frothed as the models walked. It had all the sweeping drama that Roksanda has made her own but it wasn’t the only takeaway. Alongside the imposing gowns, the designer also offered layered up looks that could be worn in many ways, reflecting many moods.
