Miu Miu: Ready-To-Wear AW25

Bullet bras are back. So says Miu Miu, the hottest brand in fashion right now, which has enjoyed a luxury-slump-defying 104 per cent sales increase in the last quarter. The house that brought you micro kilts, distressed moccasins, knitted boob tubes and bedazzled knickers as a daywear option, introduced a seismic new trend on its AW25 runway. Pointy bras – exactly the type of lingerie second-wave feminists of Mrs Prada’s generation burnt in protest, are back. Worn under stiff satin slip dresses or fine gauge knits, they appealed to a new generation of sweater girls who will no doubt be queuing up for Miu Miu’s vintage, ladylike collection.

“We need femininity in this difficult time to lift us up,” said Mrs Prada backstage who likened the times to war time. Her response was to sprinkle feminine touches throughout. Mannish coats had prominent bust darts and fishtail hems to create a more womanly swish and Prada accessorised many looks with retro-looking sheepskin stoles and cloche hats. Distressed leather caban coats and block heeled knee boots underlined the vintage mood whilst Jackie O-style skirt suits played it forward to a new generation with bracelet sleeve jackets cropped to the midriff to emphasise an hourglass look. Sportier zip blousons were thrown into the mix and Prada dressed up retro-tracksuits with wrist-fulls of heavy duty gold bracelets.

Sarah Paulson’s star turn in a black satin off-the-shoulder coat-dress and sheer grey knee socks and Mrs Prada herself, taking her bow in a loden green pencil skirt, matching fur-trimmed jacket and double strand of pearls proved that Miu Miu’s lady-like look isn’t just for the kids.
