A Closer Look At SYSTEM’S Nowhere Neat Collection

When South Korean label SYSTEM began developing its FW26 collection, creative director Hee-Soo Kim looked to the outsider who exists slightly separate from the standard for inspiration. For Kim, that sense of individuality informed the way he looked at dress for the incoming season, using SYSTEM FALL–WINTER 2026: Nowhere Neat, as it was titled, to bring together pieces and codes that aren’t typically neighbours. The clean lines of a tailored shirt were disrupted by its baggy fit, whilst the slim waistband of a pair of grey slacks directly contrasted the wider, abundant fabric of the legs below. There was a distinctly youthful tone in some pieces like the graphic tees, oversized flannels and threadbare knits with frayed hems, with Kim looking to bands such as Radiohead (specifically their 1992 track Creep) to inform the offering’s misfit mantra.

For SYSTEM, the art of getting dressed isn’t about perfection, it’s about the person, and what looks good to them. It’s a foundation the brand has built on since its inauguration in 1990, and what has stood it in good stead for its expansion over the past three decades. The label started showing on the Paris Fashion Week schedule in 2019, gaining traction in the fashion capital before establishing its globally-minded branch System Global Collection in 2023 (of which Kim became creative director) and then opening its first Parisian flagship on Rue de Saintonge in 2024. “It’s for everyone, but more about differences,” is SYSTEM’s guiding maxim – one that has led the label straight to London’s door, another city famed for its diversity, riotous style and freedom of expression.

Bringing its menswear offering to a pop-up in the contemporary designer area of Harrods, running until November 22, SYSTEM suits the city. Its grungier references feel right at home, as does its penchant for a boxy check trench coat and loose-fitting Harrington jacket. Stocking FW26 alongside pieces created exclusively for the retailer, the space is an invitation for Londoners to get to know the brand, and explore their individuality the SYSTEM way.
