Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, Miu Miu‘s bubble shoe is back. While those chronically online sentimentalists among us come back down from a Tumblr-coded 2016 nostalgia daze, the shoe, launching today, tempts us to turn that dial backup and lean into the early aughts once again. Once a cult curiosity tucked away in resale wishlists, the relaunched Bubble shoe, first debuted on the brand’s AW26 runway, has been resurrected from the archives – and with a glitzy makeover, no less.
Rounded, padded and sitting atop its signature bubbled sole, this footwear find looks like something plucked from a futuristic sci-fi dream. Its endearing, delightfully geeky energy is a testament to statement shoes being in and pedestrian footwear being so passé.
Revamped in supple suede and leather with cotton laces, the shoe also comes in an embellished version crafted in technical nylon with crystal and sequin embroidery for those looking for an added bit of sparkle. The Bubble design slots perfectly into Miu Miu’s lineage of building on the past without feeling costume-y or gimmicky. Bubble trouble has officially bounced back.
