BREAKING: Peter Hawkings Leaves Tom Ford

The game of fashion musical chairs continues. This afternoon it was announced that Peter Hawkings is departing from Tom Ford.

Having staged just two collections as creative director of Ford’s namesake label, it was announced this afternoon that Hawkings is stepping down from the brand.

Hawkings spent 25 years as Tom Ford’s right hand man, working with the designer from his days at Gucci through to founding his own label. Hawkings held the position of senior vice president of menswear at Tom Ford since 2013 before taking the creative director role last April. He was the first designer appointed to take the helm of the brand following Ford’s sale of his business to Estée Lauder in November of 2022 for an impressive $2.8 billion.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Peter for his exceptional contributions to Tom Ford from the very beginning,” said Guillaume Jesel, president and CEO of Tom Ford and luxury business development at Estée Lauder Companies (ELC).

It is understood that Zegna group – which has a 20-year license agreement to produce Tom Ford Fashion – wants to focus on growing the womenswear arm of the brand. It is yet to be announced who will be the brand’s next creative director.
