What watch are you wearing?
It’s a Versace and Franck Muller collaboration watch from the 1990s that was given to me by Donatella Versace when I first started working with her more than 30 years ago. Day to day, though, I wear a Rolex Submariner Kermit, which was produced for the fiftieth anniversary of the Submariner. My husband gave it to me for my fortieth birthday. The green of the bezel matches an emerald in a ring I wear that was the stone in my grandmother’s engagement ring.
Tell us about it.
It’s a Franck Muller Versace Limited Edition Steel Automatic Chronograph with a black crocodile strap. It came from a very small run of watches designed by Gianni Versace in collaboration with Franck Muller and was among the first timepieces created by Versace
What’s the story behind it?
I had been working with Versace at a PR agency in London since 1995 and then in 1997 Donatella asked me to move to Milan to work with her. She very generously gifted me the watch in about 1999. We have worked together since then
What do you love about it and why is it your favourite?
I love how timeless and elegant it is but also very modern with the asymmetric face. It reminds me of the amazing adventures I have had working with Donatella, her kindness and generosity of spirit. It means a huge amount that it was gifted by her and designed by her brother – a connection to them both.
When do you wear it and what do you wear it with?
I keepit for special occasions, normally black tie.
What would be a dream watch for you to own?
I am lucky enough to own those already! But a yellow gold Cartier Tankwatch with a black leather strap would be on the dream list.
