Footwear Finds: Vivienne Westwood x George Cox Limited-Edition Collection

Welcome (back) to the ‘50s! Vivienne Westwood is reuniting with storied shoemaker George Cox for a new, limited-edition collection of unisex footwear. Continuing a partnership that stretches all the way back to the late Dame herself’s early days on the King’s Road, at the then-named Let It Rock boutique, the capsule celebrates 75 years of the Northampton-based shoemonger’s iconic Creeper silhouette.

The collection features two styles of the Creeper, all comprising the chunky crepe sole and basketwoven edges at the toe that have cemented the silhouette as a subcultural legend. From 1950s Teddy Boys to the Tumblr girls of the 2010s, the shoe is a hallmark of rebellion and authenticity marked by an incessant sense of youthfulness.

The Point Toe Monk takes its cues from the Vivienne Westwood archives, employing the embossed logo and studded belt and buckle clasp of the Alex Belt to evoke the longstanding relationship of the forward-thinking brands. Available in both monochromatic black leather and a two-toned colourway with a bright white upper, the monk shoe would look right at home at a Rockers reunion on Brighton Beach.

Elsewhere, the Hatton Derby stands out for its chocolatey serpent textures which highlight the shoe’s supple sheen in a tantalising way – so much so you might even want to take a bite out of it! Fastened using George Cox’s signature D-Rings, the unconventional derby is a fierce yet sophisticated ode to an unwavering symbol of adolescent defiance.

Available globally now both in-store and online, the collaboration brings the Creeper back to the fore for a whole new generation of rebels. Shop the collaboration here.
