Eckhaus Latta: Ready-To-Wear AW26

At Eckhaus Latta yesterday in New York City, the mood was subtly unhinged, in the best way. Snippets overheard pre-show – “Sumos are trending,” “My nipples are not handle bars,” “I don’t want to get buried” – set the tone for a collection that felt knowingly chaotic but tightly handled.

Zoe Latta and Mike Eckhaus leaned into slinky silhouettes this season, slicing the body with ease. Paloma Elsesser opened in the Envelope top and Cruising skirt in dusk lambskin, the leather cut to skim rather than squeeze. The Spectrum knits – racer turtlenecks, cardigans, polos – came in ‘70s-leaning stripes and murky brights, worn with baggy jeans or double skirts that swayed low on the hip. There was a touch of “having the presence of a building” about the outerwear: a molten wool bomber in granite, a varnish coat in petroleum and a standout black overcoat that closed the show with real authority.

Heavier faux furs and Toscana coats added weight to the otherwise fluid line-up, grounding the gossamer gunmetal sets and knife dresses in liquorice and olive. The dusk lambskin Cruising sets were particularly strong – apron panels and jeans that felt both protective and faintly erotic.

There’s always “a lot going on” at Eckhaus Latta. This time, it didn’t flood. It flowed.
