Gucci: Ready-To-Wear AW23

We are calling it The Transition collection – the step in between two designers. Our beloved Gucci girl rolled out from the lift doors that opened on three sides to reveal her new wardrobe and attitude. We think we would find her doing the walk of shame with honour. She stays out late and still rocks up to work to looking good. She was harder than last season’s twins and carrying the new reincarnation of the mega Horsebit bag made fabulous by Tom Ford. As is running rich this season – lingerie pieces underpinned the looks and faux fur was shrugged on.

With a great lineup of models, including Guinevere Van Seenus in the final look, it was less OTT vintage, yet still vintage. Less, but hard to shake off Alessandro Michele’s legacy too lightly. Gucci are in a holding pattern for Sabato de Sarno who takes up the role of creative director, presenting his first collection next September. As the finale finished, the design studio emerged to take a bow, and A$AP Rocky, Florence Welch, Dakota Johnson and the celeb-deep front row cheered, still committed to the cause.
