Cecilie Bahnsen lands at Matches Fashion
Let’s be real, who wouldn’t want a Cecilie Bahnsen dress? Just in time for World Earth Day, the Danish designer has dropped her first seasonless collection at Matches Fashion. Coming in at nine pieces in total – don’t worry, there’s plenty a pretty frock – each garment comes with a QR code, where through the power of blockchain technology, you can see the development process and craftmanship gone into your new purchase. Pretty neat, huh? Paul Toner
Robyn Lynch gets digging
Fashion East-alum Robyn Lynch has re-launched her e-store this week, packed with ace, cycling-inspired garb from her SS21 collection. And that’s not all. The Irish designer has teamed up with Ecologi where for every order placed on her site, a tree will be planted. Now you’ve got an excuse to treat yourself to one of Lynch’s smashing cable knits hybrids. PT
Vashi: jewellery you can trust
Everyday is Earth Day for bespoke fine jewellery brand Vashi, it’s a no-waste zone. Each piece of beautifully crafted jewellery is made to order, as and when you wish, from 100% recycled 18k yellow, rose or white gold and platinum. Diamonds and gemstones are ethically sourced too, tracked from mine to market – what more could you want? Brittany Newman
Move over upcycling, Hermès is Upsilking
The house of Hermès’ silk department has envisioned a seasonal capsule that takes silks from previous collections and refurbishes them. Using an overdye technique, the old silks are washed with bright colours, bringing little slices of Hermès history back to life. PT
KNWLS and Harley Weir turns trash into treasure
Charlotte Knowles’ and Alexandre Arsenault’s freshly renamed label, KNWLS, has teamed up with ongoing collaborator Harley Weir on a capsule collection exclusively dropping on Ssense. Launching April 27, the entire collection is made from recycled Nylon Lycra, and includes tops, dresses, skin-tight flares, and swimwear. Each piece is printed with images from Weir’s Rubbish 1.2 series – made up of nice pictures of rubbish she’s spotted whilst out and about. Turning trash into treasure has a whole new mojo. PT
Bimini Bon Depop
This year’s Earth Day sees Depop’s digital roundtable series, Let’s Talk, hosted by Drag Race icon Bimini Bon Boulash. This time around, the hottest topic of them all is on the tip of the tongue: what does Earth Day even mean? Together with Bimini, rising star Arlo Parks, Aussie duo Lime Cordiale and US singer Maria Isabel will tackle that for you, along with how to keep the momentum of sustainability alive and much more. Keeping warm and cosy with Max Mara
A sustainable initiative now integral to the Max Mara brand, Cameluxe is a project which uses Max Mara discarded camelhair from its iconic coats to make insulating padding for pieces from The Cube; a seasonless collection of Max Mara greatness. PT
Stella McCartney does the talking
As one of the industry’s true sustainable trailblazers, Stella McCartney today has launched her #StellaTalks environmental speaker series. Kicking off inside McCartney’s Old Bond Street flagship, environmental filmmaker Alice Aedy will be discussing Amazon deforestation with Amazon Watch activist Leila Salazar-Lopez, as well as Natalie Kelley and Nina Gualinga. You can stream the talk on McCartney’s Instagram later today. PT
Get a load of Eye/Loewe/Nature
Loewe has been busy cooking up the fifth season for Eye/Loewe/Nature, filled with loose-fitting garms perfect for enjoying life outside. The materials are of course all organic, upcycled and recycled – three of many ways to reassess craft (which is quintessential to Loewe). While dressing your body and giving back to nature (with every product sold, €15 is donated to “A Casa For Birds”) has kept Mr Anderson busy, he hasn’t stopped at Loewe, as his namesake brand has also been getting down with nature at Selfridges. Pop that in your Fendi basket
First unveiled as part of Fendi’s co-ed SS21 collection, this new basket is entirely made from recycled PVC. Available in two sizes, and a range of colourways, if you’re wanting something to pop your tinnies in on the way to the park this summer, look no further. PT
Armani goes National Geographic
Under the Armani Exchange belt for World Earth Day is a new collection of T-shirts and sweats, featuring your favourite furry friends that are unfortunately at risk. Each item spotlights the images of Joel Sartore, long-time contributor to National Geographic, which have been reimagined as LP album covers. With each purchase, you are of course helping in supporting the global nonprofit National Geographic Society in its work to protect through exploration, research and education. BN
Katie Ann McGuigan longs for summer
Doing her bit for the earth is Katie Ann McGuigan. Her new collection, Lost Summer, is made up of puff-sleeve babydoll styles and A-line shapes cinched at the waist; adorned in signature prints inspired by wallpapers and tapestries. When we say she’s doing her bit, we obviously mean by her commitment to sourcing within the UK and Ireland – from sewing technicians, pattern makers, shoemakers and factories to textile sourcing and yarns. This collection, in particular, has been realised through natural fibre 100% wool yarns sponsored by Donegal Yarn and Yarnvibes, with local Irish sourcing and production. BN
