A true perfectionist never accepts their creativity as final. And apparently, the watchmaking hub of Louis Vuitton is full of them. One of their finest works – the Tambour timepiece – has lived through numerous interpretations over the years. Digital and analogue, in both robust and delicate forms, spangled in diamonds or covered in the LV monograms… As an ever-evolving object of desire, it’s reached the dreams of many, regardless of age, sex or location. But as far as the height of technology goes, the latest edition might be as close to the god as a watch can be. Stamped with a prestigious Geneva Seal of approval given only to the finest designs in the industry, the Tambour Curve Flying Tourbillon Poinçon de Genève is a futuristic interpretation merging traditional craft with modern technology. It’s also a mouthful of a name, but we’re not complaining.
Inspired by the Möbius strip, the case carries a stretched, elongated shape, with a diameter of 46mm set in the form of a deconstructed circle. From the side, the case band has a continuous curve from one attachment to the other as it follows the natural curve of the wrist. Controlled by a titanium carriage of a flying tourbillon, the innovative mechanical movement has 80 hours of power reserve. Sparkling bright at 9 o’clock, its carriage is inspired by one of the motifs of the famous LV monogram which also appears integrated in the case through a skilful play of architectural transparancies. The Tambour Curve is available in two versions – a sleek black one and a decadent iteration encrusted with 178 round-cut diamonds. The choice is yours but tik-tok, time is passing by…
