Just nabbed off Vogue Runway, a first look at Dolce & Gabbana’s molto glamoroso Alta Moda show in Milano this week. Rough translation: drama, drama, drama. So where better to hold it then than backstage at the opera? No fat ladies singing here (we couldn’t make it) but plenty of beautiful young things wearing breath-taking garbs for a rattle through the operas – a touch of Madame Butterfly, Falstaff, Magic Flute, La Boheme. Basically – big, blousy and covered in gold. And amongst the glamorous gowns (gagged by that patchwork number above) could we say there’s a touch of the drag kings to this? Britches and blazers, worn with ruffled white shirts. Because who needs real men? Either way – plenty for the couture-hopping clientele to lust and claw each other’s eyes out over. And with clothes like this, must have been a bloodbath. “I’d get my thumbs and burst their eyeballs to get my hands on it,” says Dominic. “I will be victorious.” It’s been a long week.
