John Galliano: Ready-to-wear AW16

The bias-cut slip dress is a foundation of the entire John Galliano label: Bill Gaytten, the house of Galliano’s creative director, is a technical wizard. So this collection returned to what both he and the house do best, which is to whip up bias wisps so effervescent and ethereal, they’re barely even there. This was a winter collection, though, so they were grounded with a practical bunch of tailoring, officer’s coats cut with a swaggering ease. It looked the very best when said cavalry-twill topcoats were tossed over the lingerie-look slips that are so emblematic of both the current moment, and of Galliano’s heritage. It was a fusion that felt perfect for today.
