Marni’s Campaign For SS19 Celebrates The Artist’s Atelier

Something old, something blue, something borrowed, something blue. No, I’m not talking about the imaginary wedding rules, but about Francesco Risso’s Marni. The oddity behind the inspirations for each of his collections makes the clothes like no other on the market, unmistakably Marni. For SS19, Risso was mostly inspired by mattresses, which resulted in a collection full of semi-deconstructed clothing with exposed boning and a neutral colour story reminiscent of the foam and fabrics that go into making of a bed.

For the brand’s latest campaign however, the story went away from the bedroom and into a gallery. Set inside Musée Bourdelle in Paris, photographer Jamie Hawkesworth captures Jess Maybury as a neoclassic figure dressed into Risso’s eclectic fashions, as styled by legendary Camilla Nickerson. It’s a story of an artist and his muse, a loose recreation of Antoine Bourdelle’s atelier and all that happened inside. As per, it’s a kooky Marni extravaganza of opposites, and we’re here for it!
