On Sunday evening, the lovely Marion Cotillard wore Dior Haute Couture to the British Independent Film Awards – BIFA to those act-ors in the know. She was nominated for her fine work as Lady Macbeth in well, Macbeth. Which I report on this because I’m having a bit of a bad morning. I squeezed my flat white cup so hard it erupted all over me and my computer (all are fine, in case you are panicking – I’m in an all-black get-up FYI). Anyway, just looking at this image is telling me there is hope. Something to aspire to. Because, look at her! This is a lady who does not spill hot beverages upon herself. She is pure, immaculate French perfection. And the gown itself? Well, it’s Dior Haute Couture (she’s the face of Lady Dior) – which is ’nuff said really. It’s great. But, for those who need to know the finer details – it is an “embroidered pleated black silk georgette evening dress.” Now, I didn’t know what georgette meant (shame on me), so I turned to my always reliable friend, Google. Apparently, Georgette is a sheer, lightweight, dull-finished crêpe fabric named after the early 20th century French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante. Of course, it is now all I wish to wear. I am getting my wardrobe re-done in Georgette as we speak. Call me Miss de la Plante.
