Fabiana Filippi has a new group creative director – its first, actually – and her name is Lucia De Vito. Since 1985 when brothers Giacomo and Mario Filippi Coccetta conceived the brand in Giano dell’Umbria, 30 km south of Perugia, Italy, it’s become renowned for its opulent cashmere and knitwear collections. But despite its success 38 years from its foundation, it’s never named a director.
In her new role, De Vito will be tasked with leading the Style Office in the creation of Fabiana Filippi ready-to-wear and women’s accessories collections, as well as overseeing the brand image, enhancing the strategic positioning strategy of the group and accelerating its growth and development at a global level. She will also report to Aldo Gotti, CEO of the Fabiana Filippi Group. “I am proud to be joining a brand whose values I share and which over the years has been able to build an ideal of authentic, essential femininity, expressed with intelligence and elegance,” she said of the appointment. “I participate enthusiastically in this project, ready to offer my experience and my idea of creativity, made up of continuous contaminations between art, fashion and design.”
Having held senior positions at prestigious luxury labels like Jil Sander, Valentino, Chloè and Pucci over the course of her impressive career, De Vito will bring her innate understanding of timeless Italian style to Fabiana Filippi. “Lucia will know how to be the interpreter of its history, leading the brand towards a contemporary narrative, strong in its modern vision of design and femininity,” Gotti commented.
Lucia De Vito’s debut collection for the label is set to be unveiled in September 2023, during Milan Fashion Week.
