Tommy Hilfiger: Ready-To-Wear SS27

When Tommy Hilfiger stages a show, it’s an event. Spring 2027 was no different, set at New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel. With the streets blocked off and fans clambering onto whatever high perch they could find, you could hear the excited crowds from down the block. And they had plenty to be excited about, with a packed front row that read like a who’s who from across the globe. NYC’s royal couple Karl Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods made their entrance while the always iconic Kate Moss showed up, dressed casually in a shirt and jeans. You had social media stars like Quen Blackwell alongside Camila Cabello, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Lisa Rinna and Alton Mason. But perhaps the biggest cheers were for the Asian celebs, namely Jisoo of Blackpink, the women of Girls Generation, and the emerging (at least to the West) Thai stars Phuwin, Fourth and Gemini. Suffice to say the screams were at a fever pitch.

Inside, the energy was equally as buzzy, as the brand took over the hotel’s historic ground floor. “For 40 years, I’ve been inspired by the style of New Yorkers – how the people of the city take the classics and make them their own,” said Hilfiger via the press release. “This season, The Plaza is our playground, where Tommy icons feel remixed and refined for today.” With a live band in the middle, serving as a hint for the show ahead, everyone took to their seats with champagne. As the sounds of orchestral music filled the space, the show opened with Gigi Hadid clad in a slouchy beige blazer and red trousers topped with a navy bucket hat. It was prep reimagined for a new generation courtesy of a relaxed silhouette and unexpected styling.

From there the 69 look show offered more separates that was pure American sportswear. Consisting of a predominantly red, white, and blue palette, there were also pops of yellow and green. You’ll find colour-blocked rugby dresses, shirting in Ithaca stripes, and plenty of plaid blazers. Polos and khakis, the perennial preppy staples, were given new life through a play on proportions be it cut super short and cropped or oversized. As always, the brand’s signature flag logo and crest were featured prominently throughout, with the most striking being the giant totes that trailed across the body and runway.

As Romeo Beckham closed the show, Hilfiger had one more trick up his sleeve – what sounded like a very good rendition of Slayyyter’s Unknown Loverz turned out to be the pop star herself. Dressed in a red shirt, necktie, and little shorts, she moved seamlessly from room to room, proving that the microphone was indeed on. From there she segued into her hit Dance which had the room bopping in their seats and Hilfiger coming out to take his bow, with dog in tow. What a fun afternoon.
