I wont lie, it took me two looks over this, Givenchy’s AW17 collection, with a strong feeling of deja vu before it hit me like a tonne of (red) bricks that this was Riccardo’s greatest hits at the house. All those iconic silhouettes, here imagined in hot hot red. Made it feel a bit like looking back over old photos and remembering all your fondest memories. But with clothes. Which, for me at least, is more emotional. And how much better than an in-house collection than giving Riccardo a proper swans song in the form of all the fabulous fashions we “oo-ed” and “ahhh-ed” at over the past twelve years? A reminder at Mr Tisci’s pure talent. Final question: are we allowed to wear red to his (metaphorical!) funeral?
