If you’ve been anywhere near the internet over the past year, you’ve probably been privy to the influx of bows that are flooding TikTok ‘For You’ pages, Instagram timelines and – if you’re really with the times – your own clothes. The world has gone bow mad, and hey, we’re not mad about it, but it seems that Valentino Garavani was ahead of the ribboned curve. At its Haute Couture AW23 show, Valentino debuted what is possibly, and we don’t say this lightly, the perfect party shoe for the festive season.
The Valentino Garavani Un Château Bow Mule is a beautifully bow adorned, backless ballet flat with a pointed toe to top it off. Available in a satin red that we want to bathe in, a crackle effect platinum, and of course, the maison’s iconic #PinkPP, the Un Château Bow Mule didn’t just steal the show, it stole our hearts and tied the up with a creaseless bow. What the shoe lacks in heel, it makes up for in its decadent design, with the oversized bow detail providing a truly elevating moment that means the mules need not rely on heel height to catch any eyes.
When it was presented in July, the Un Château Bow Mule was styled with an opulent gown, a more playful mini dress and with a pair of slouchy jeans and oversized white shirt. It’s almost as if Pierpaolo Picciolli was shaking our shoulders and saying “just look at how wonderfully diverse this shoe is!” Gone are the days of shoving a pair of disappointing flats in your bag to save your feet from the high heel-induced pain that comes with an evening of dining and dancing. There’s no need to sacrifice style for comfort when Valentino Garavani has your back – and your feet.
