Dolce & Gabbana: Ready-To-Wear AW25

Dolce & Gabbana changed it up. Of late, the brand has been exploring and expanding upon its instantly recognisable signature style (sexy Sicilian tailoring and corset dressing), but for AW25 it took a different approach focused on street style. The first half of their show was a fascinating deep dive on how people (cool, young, stylish, people to be precise) wear clothes, IRL. How do they put outfits together? What do they wear in the street?

To get us in the mood, the show started with a film of Vittoria Ceretti, out and about, dressed in an oversized khaki parka to buy groceries or a leopard coat and lace top to get coffee.

Then came a parade of fantastic outerwear: oversized bomber jackets worn with thigh high biker boots, plush shearlings, roomy utility jackets, shearling-lined hoodies, black leather beatnik coats, crystal studded denim jackets, lavishly fringed leopard coats, and hourglass jackets worn with baggy cargo pants. Rooted in reality, these were everyday looks shot through with D&G charisma. The models walked to a banging soundtrack, courtesy of a live DJ set by Maneskin’s Victoria De Angelis. She was stationed outside the show space, on the street next to a specially built, raised catwalk where the models paraded for a rapturous general public after they’d walked the catwalk.

Then the lights dimmed and a slew of mini dresses came out in a riot of crystals, feathers and beads. They were sheer and lacy and very louche, designed to be worn with a visible thong as the soundtrack blared “Can you see my tits through my T-shirt?” A great coat and a great party dress: what more could you need? Dolce & Gabbana have you covered.
