Boys’ Shorts’ Global Queer Clubbing Guide

What’s your bank holiday looking like, then? If you want your extra-long weekender to be drenched in lasers and soundtracked by the thumping bass of a stacked speaker system, we might just know a place. Or 10, in fact. Boys’ Shorts – the Greek duo consisting of musicians Vangelis and Tareq – have played to queer dance floors in across the world. Trusted stewards of the scene, they’ve continuously brought the heat with their high energy sets at beloved parties globally.

The pair have just dropped their debut album – What Does It Take To Make These Men Happy? – built around themes of “longing, connection, nostalgia, and modern intimacy” inspired by many sweat drenched nights. Spanning a cocktail of genres, from Balearic house through to disco and throbbing techno, the LP is prepped and primed to soundtrack not only your next big night out, but the pre-drinks and afters, too.

To mark the occasion, Boys’ Shorts have compiled a queer clubbing guide packed with late night haunts, weekend long parties and open-air festivals for all your hedonistic pleasures.

1. PDA (Berlin)
A real treasure. It’s a total DIY vibe from people who just love music, for people who love music. Big love to Jonah and Tam Tam.

2. The Carry Nation at Good Room (NYC)
Nita and Will’s parties are like a family gathering you can’t miss. You can actually feel the history of New York clubbing in the room. When they play at one of the best clubs in the world, it’s a match made in heaven.

3. Basement (NYC)
This is what a real connection on the dance floor feels like. The line-ups are so good; it’s one of those places every music fan needs to visit at least once to see what’s happening in the culture right now.

4. Loose Ends (Sydney)
Pure euphoria. It’s a community of people who just want to love and accept each other. We’ve never felt such a strong connection with every single person in the room before.

5. Silvester Klubnacht (Berghain/Panorama Bar) (Berlin)
A total celebration. It’s so unique and overwhelming, you really have to be there to understand it. The first time we played, we actually ended up in tears because of all the love. It’s like another world.

6. MyPleasure (Madrid)
A party where the space, the music and the shows all fit together perfectly. Everything happens for a reason here.

7. Body Movements (London)
A rave that comes straight from the heart. You’ll probably stay until the very end because it’s so easy to get lost in the sound.

8. Buddy Buddy x Sole Rehab (Buffalo)
A great example of why community matters. It’s a huge gathering of love, with people travelling from all over just to meet and dance together.

9. Los Niños (Brussels)
Such a cool example of how you can turn something like a metro station into a bright, colourful club.

10. Garçon Sauvage (Lyon)
A legendary “love bubble” where the music and the performances come together. It’s a wild, free space where being yourself and dressing up are the only thing that matters.
