5 Acts To See At Body Movements Festival

Despite the weather not living up to it, believe it or not, summer is in full flow. As you start to pencil in your motives through July and August, one stop on the festival circuit not to miss is Body Movements. Launched in 2021 as East London’s first queer electronic music festival, on July 29, Body Movements will take over 16 venues across Hackney Wick – playing host to a slew of queer dance collectives, including Pxssy Palace and T4T LUV NRG, alongside a wealth of brilliant DJs (100, to be exact!). Here’s who you should be seeing.

TAALIAH

Hailing from Scotland, multi-disciplinary artist Taaliah has been dominating dancefloors with her hard-hitting club hits and future-facing pop. Growing up on trance and rave-ready hardcore, she developed her sound upon moving to Glasgow to attend art’s school, where she entrenched herself in the city’s queer club circuit. Releasing her debut EP, Angelica, in 2021, she has quickly become a must-see across the UK’s club scene.

INTROSPEKT

Introspekt is making waves on both sides of the Atlantic for bringing the sounds of UK garage to Los Angeles and beyond. A loyal devotee of wobbling basslines and nostalgic 2-step, she has played across the globe, most recently shelling it at London’s Fold and NTS Radio’s free day party for Pride in Dalston.

ROI PEREZ

As a resident DJ of Berghain’s infamous Panorama Bar, Roi Perez is renowned for his entrancing, extended sets which have intoxicated dancefloors internationally. The Israeli-born, Berlin-based DJ began spinning records in the German capital back in 2013, beginning to play regularly inside the Berghain’s hallowed halls two years later.

ISABELLA

A figurehead in Barcelona’s rapidly expanding queer club scene, ISAbella is the co-founder of Maricas, a lauded LGBTQIA+ party, community platform, and record label. On an international stage, the DJ and producer is lauded for her clever collisions of house, trance and techno.

SAOIRSE

DJ, producer, and Body Movements co-founder, Saorise, has evolved into one of the scene’s most revered selectors. With a Fabric Presents compilation on the way from, the Irish talent is currently touring festivals globally, having just played Glastonbury, with spots at Houghton and Waterworks festivals due later this summer. Before all that, though, see you at Body Movements?
