Adrian Appiolaza Named Moschino’s New Creative Director

Adrian Appiolaza is Moschino’s new creative director!

The designer was previously Loewe’s women’s ready-to-wear director under Jonathan Anderson (and before that held the same role at Chloé under Clare Waight Keller). In the last 20 years, he has also held posts at Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton.

Appiolaza will make his debut during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week on February 22 at 6pm.

The news of Appiolaza’s arrival follows the sudden death of Davide Renne, who tragically passed away on November 10, 2023 aged 46, just 9 days after he joined the house.

“We are happy and honored to welcome Adrian to the Aeffe family,” says Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Aeffe S.pA. “With his arrival at Moschino, Adrian brings with him a unique wealth of experience, creativity and knowledge of the history of fashion that will be instrumental to write a wonderful new chapter in the adventure of the brand founded by Franco Moschino.”

Appiolaza’s debut will be held at the Museo della Permanente, significant as the same venue was used to hold the exhibition ‘Moschino – X anni di Kaos! 1983-1993’, which celebrated the first decade of Franco Moschino’s brand back in ‘93.

Speaking to WWD, Appiolaza revealed his first collection will draw heavily on the brand’s extensive archive – “a veritable gold mine, but filtered through my own imagination,” he says.

“I am deeply grateful to Massimo Ferretti for allowing me to access the world of Moschino, as well as entry into a house whose walls exude a history that I am eager to hear,” says Appiolaza. “I am ready to transport the maison into a new chapter, with a theatrical touch, in the pure style of Moschino.”
