Omoss Is The Sea Moss Drink Making Wellness Taste Good

Wellness trends come and go faster than hemlines. One minute it’s celery juice, the next it’s chlorophyll, then suddenly everyone’s injecting themselves with Temu peptides and insisting they’ve never felt better. Sea moss, however, has managed to stick around. Long before TikTok discovered it, the mineral-rich seaweed had been a staple in Irish and Caribbean health traditions for centuries – celebrated for everything from supporting gut health and immunity to nourishing skin and boosting overall wellbeing. The only problem? It tastes how you might imagine seaweed scraped from the bottom of an ocean a rock would.

Marley Finn saw an opportunity in that. Rather than asking people to spoon down gloopy gels or choke through earthy supplements, he created Omoss – the UK’s first ready-to-drink sea moss beverage. And the thing is, it actually tastes good. Each Omoss bottle contains 50 per cent pure organic Irish sea moss extract, paired with functional botanicals and fruit in three flavours – Clean, Tropical and Pomegranate – all without refined sugar, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. It’s wellness that delights the tastebuds.

With Omoss, Finn isn’t chasing a health craze either. Coming from a background in professional rugby, nutrition has long been part of his day job. After experiencing the benefits of sea moss firsthand, he became convinced the ingredient deserved a better reputation – and frankly, a better flavour profile. Working alongside leading food scientists, Omoss was developed to do just that, transforming one of nature’s most nutrient-dense superfoods into something you actually want to consume.

A brand built around transparency, sustainability and genuinely functional ingredients, Omoss seamoss is hand-harvested from Ireland’s Atlantic coastline with the drinks produced using clean ingredients. Plus, donating 4.4 per cent of profits to ocean conservation charity Project Zero, Omoss proves that it’s as interested in what’s left out as what’s put in.

Fresh from taking home the Best New Organic Drink Product prize at the 2025 Natural & Organic Innovation Awards, Finn is hoping sea moss will soon graduate from niche health food shops to everyday fridges. Here, we chatted with him to find out more about his obsession with sea moss, its oft-overlooked benefits and why sea moss is more than a trend.

1. Who is Marley Finn, and what is your personal connection to sea moss?

I’m a 25-year-old entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Omoss. My connection to sea moss goes back further than the brand. My grandmother is Caribbean, and sea moss has been a staple in her culture for generations. She introduced it to me early on, so it was never a foreign concept; it was just something that existed in the background of my upbringing. I lost touch with it for a while, the way you do with a lot of things when you’re young and focused on other things. Then I went to the States and saw how seriously people were taking it over there. The market was enormous, the awareness was high, and then it clicked. Something my grandmother had been using her whole life was becoming one of the most talked about superfoods in the world. That felt like a signal worth paying attention to.

2. How did your background in professional sport play a part in founding OMOSS?

Sport gave me the obsession with what goes into your body and why. When you’re training and eating for performance, nutrition isn’t abstract; it has immediate, tangible consequences. That rigour never left me. But honestly, it was injury that was the real catalyst. Having a career cut short by your body breaking down before you’re ready forces a reckoning. I turned that frustration into something purposeful – I wanted to build something in the health space that I actually believed in, rooted in the same performance-first thinking that shaped how I approached rugby.

3. How might you encourage people to incorporate Omoss into their daily routine?

Start with flavour. That sounds simple, but it matters. If something doesn’t taste good, the habit doesn’t stick, no matter how good it is for you. That’s why we’ve worked hard to make Omoss genuinely delicious. Once you’ve found your flavour, it just becomes part of the rhythm of your day. A lot of our customers have it first thing in the morning or as an afternoon reset.

The format helps too. It’s ready to drink, so there’s no friction – no powders to mix, no capsules to remember. It’s just there, it tastes great and your body gets what it needs.

4. What benefits of sea moss have you noticed that others might overlook?

People talk about gut health and skin, which are real, but what I think gets underestimated is the mineral density. Sea moss contains up to 92 of the 102 minerals the human body needs. 92. That’s not a marketing line, that’s the composition of the plant. We’re talking iodine, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium… minerals that are foundational to how your body actually functions at a cellular level. Most people are chronically deficient in several of these without knowing it, and they’re reaching for expensive supplements to fill gaps that sea moss covers naturally. That’s what makes it special to me. It’s not a one trick superfood. It’s one of the most complete things you can put into your body, and it’s been hiding in plain sight for centuries.

5. You won the Best New Organic Drink award at the 2025 Natural & Organic Innovation Awards, what makes OMOSS stand out in an industry valued at over one billion dollars?

Honestly, it comes down to not cutting corners. The sea moss category has grown fast, and with that growth comes a lot of noise, brands riding the trend without real substance behind them. What we’ve built is a product with genuine nutritional integrity, stocked at places like Daylesford Organic, Planet Organic and Soho House – retailers that don’t take on products lightly. The award was validating, but what I’m more proud of is that the people who care most about what they put in their bodies are the ones choosing Omoss. That’s the hardest audience to win, and it tells you more than any award does.

6. What’s the story behind the three flavours?

Each one was built with a clear intention. Clean is exactly what it sounds like, minimal ingredients, maximum goodness. We stripped it back to let the sea moss speak for itself, and the result is a crisp, unfussy taste that people who really understand nutrition tend to gravitate towards. Tropical was about pleasure, something that takes you somewhere warm, that feels abundant and delicious without any guilt attached. And Pomegranate, our best seller, came from wanting something with real depth. We paired the sea moss with pomegranate and added ashwagandha, because the two work beautifully together; both adaptogens, both backed by centuries of use across different cultures. It’s become the one people come back to most, and I think that’s because you can feel the difference.

7. Tell us about the brand name Omoss.

Omoss comes from Ocean Moss, it’s right there in the name if you look for it. But beyond the literal origin, the word felt right. It’s short, it’s distinctive, it doesn’t sound like anything else on the shelf. We wanted something that could stand on its own as a brand, not just describe a product. The ocean is central to everything we do, it’s where the ingredient comes from, it’s the energy behind the brand. Omoss is our way of owning that without being obvious about it.

8. Is the sea moss trend just a phase?

No. And I think the word “trend” undersells what’s actually happening. What we’re seeing is a broader, generational shift towards nature. People are moving away from synthetic supplements and processed everything, and looking for things that are nutrient-dense, traceable and real. Sea moss fits that perfectly. It’s been used in Caribbean and Irish cultures for centuries; it’s not new, it just finally has the visibility it deserves. The nutrient profile alone – up to 92 minerals – means that it has genuine staying power. Things with real substance don’t disappear. They become staples.

9. What’s next for Omoss?

We’re focused on making Omoss more accessible, expanding our retail footprint so people can find us more easily, wherever they shop. Alongside that, we’re working on something we’re really excited about: a powdered format. An on-the-go sachet that gives you all the benefits of Omoss without needing to carry a bottle. It opens up a completely different use occasion, travel, the gym, the office. We’re building this for people who want sea moss as a daily habit, not an occasional treat, and the powder makes that easier than ever.
