Footwear Finds: Dolce & Gabbana X Diadora’s Brasil Collection

Dolce & Gabbana have teamed up with Diadora for a collaboration that champions athleticism and style. For the exclusive launch, the two Italian powerhouses look back on their archives to revive Diadora’s Brasil shoe – an ’80s classic that has been worn by footballing champions across the decades. Combining Diadora’s sporting speciality with Dolce & Gabbana’s distinctive aesthetic, this collaboration features two silhouettes that take us from the pitch to the streets. The first is the Brasil’s traditional shape, crafted for football with cleats and a lightweight design, whereas the second, coined the Brasil ID, is a sneaker interpretation.

The collection sports a dinstinct Dolce & Gabbana touch, incorporating leopard-print pony hair details throughout. As the first major fashion house to feature footballers in its campaigns, notably in its 2003 photography book Calcio shot by friend of 10, Mariano Vivanco, Dolce & Gabbana brings an unmistakable, longstanding appreciation for the world of football to the collab. Both crafted with nappa leather uppers and enhanced through sleek stitching that streamlines the shape, the comfort and performance of both shoes is optimised. With the Brasil available in sooty black, and the Brasil ID available in the same shade plus a crisp white and full leopard-print, the release repurposes the shoe’s rich heritage for a new age.

Sporting style is at an all-time high, as Londoners rejoice with Arsenal’s Premier League win, and Naomi Osaka’s incredible courtside styling, so these shoes have come at the right time. Available from selected Dolce & Gabbana stories and online from June 8, this collab will sure please footie and fash fans alike.
