Dovile Drizyte On The Codognato Ring That’s Named After Her

Every piece of jewellery has a tale to tell. For the dazzling women featured in this Me and My Jewellery story, their treasured gems spill stories of their loves, tastes, families and, most of all, reveal a lot about themselves.

Dovile wears Dovile Serpent ring in 18k yellow gold, silver, diamonds and emeralds by CODOGNATO

DOVILE DRIZYTE, visual artist and creative partner of Juergen Teller

I am wearing a Codognato Dovile Serpent ring in 18-carat yellow gold and silver with diamonds and emeralds. We are dear friends of the Codognato family and they asked us to photograph Attilio when he moved into a new shop in Venice.

His family had been in the previous shop for 166 years. Juergen photographed him and his grandson, Andrea, to show the new generation also. Attilio was never nostalgic and was always looking to engage with contemporary artists of the day, including Juergen. Later that day, Juergen took a portrait of me in our hotel wearing it. Mario Codognato sees it as a modern-day version of the portrait of [Marcel] Duchamp smoking by Man Ray that is currently in the shop. After he saw the portrait, he [named] the ring after me…

It’s my favourite piece because I like the idea of a serpent representing transformation, evolution and new beginnings. On various occasions, I like to pair it with my Prada skirts and Palace x Juergen Teller T-shirts. As for what jewellery I want next? More Codognato!
