Acne Studios: Ready-To-Wear SS26

You could feel the gay panic in the air at the Acne Studios show when Robyn entered the building. The Swedish megastar has got new music on the way, some of which she previewed as part of the show’s soundtrack. The Robyn-isms didn’t stop there. You could feel the Dancing On My Own singer on the catwalk. Out models came with slicked back, boyish hair, clad in bulky leathers, glossy latex trousers and cowboy boots that crept up the leg. In the show notes, the brand spoke of design that “questions the interplay between men’s and women’s wear”, clothes that blur the lines and embrace fluidity.

So there was a tango between glamour and a ruggedness. Where bustier dresses, Frankensteined elegantly together from different shades of lace, brushed shoulders with sleeveless plaid shirts paired with distressed denim and in-your-face belt buckles. The western flair was carried along with buttery smooth leather blazers and trousers the colour of tobacco, jeans with a rustic, paper-like coating and orange-tinted aviators that were dressed up with dramatic, jade-stone earrings. A new side to the Acne girl was unleashed, and she’s got serious bite.
