Deliciously chic is the phrase that floats across the mind upon perusing the Sportmax pre-fall 2025 lookbook. Sumptuous outerwear – the kind which wraps around shoulders and hangs effortlessly from torsos – is an immediate standout, grounding the offering in the silhouette-conscious ethos the sister brand of Max Mara has become known for.
That said, no fabulous-looking gateau is possible without the quieter eggs, flour and butter that give it its rich, chocolatey backbone, allowing it to bring the delight it does. For Sportmax, these more understated components take their form as perfectly tailored slacks and jeans that assume baggier frames. The trousers that are on the skinnier side feature added layers of fabric for that extra dimension. Buttons, poppers and hardware are sprinkled onto the edges and hems to add an extra edge, whilst a swishing leather fringe appears on tunics and bags for a dash of play. A boxy faux-fur coat with a rope tie is a particular stand out, along with a shearling-lined biker jacket bedecked with zips. The colour palette is, again, understated but effective. Black, deep navy and slick wine shades coat supple fabrics whilst a series of pointed-toe boots and shoes check that last tickbox for how to build the perfect wardrobe for that effortlessly elegant contemporary woman.
