Fashion’s favourite brothers are back. Three multi-hyphenate’s who can scribble DJing, composing and sound design onto their sprawling list of skills, Hale Zero (comprised of Carl, Greg and Rafael Haley), are now turning their attention to production. Having produced music for other artists prior to their success as DJs, the brothers are infusing their signature, energetic tone into the music they are now producing for themselves under the umbrella of their “artist project”. Known for their immaculate taste in party music, they’re skilful blending and infectious energy – leading the trio to be booked by almost every fashion name under the sun (10 included, along with Chanel, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana) – this new venture is sure to be pride of place on playlists aplenty.
Tonight, the boys are celebrating in the best way they know how – a big ‘ol End of Year Party in collaboration with Don Julio. Taking place at London’s The Twenty Two, the event is set to be a rip-roaring evening of undeniable fun, with the trio set to spin sounds from Afrobeats to bass to hip-hop. Armed with a series of Hale Zero mashups, the brothers will also debut the first single from their “artist project” before unveiling the full project in January, 2025. If you’re lucky enough to have copped a ticket to tonight’s shindig, rest assured that it’s not one to miss.
Here, we spoke with Carl, Grey and Rafael about how they would describe their sound, which artist is their dream collab and their pre-night-out routine.
1. Who is Hale Zero?
We are three brothers – Carl, Greg and Rafael. DJs, composers and sound designers who work in the fashion, music and luxury industry.
2. You’ve been described as the three brothers dominating the fashion music industry. Why do you think this is? What makes a Hale Zero event so special?
We’re truly humbled by how warmly the industry has embraced us. We’ve just stayed true to ourselves and shared the music we love which has deeply resonated with our audiences. We pour everything into our performances, delivering high-energy sets every time.
3. What’s your favourite project you’ve done so far?
That’s such a hard question as we’ve done so many things that we’ve loved. Some highlights are composing music for a recent Dolce & Gabbana advert and DJing for Vogue World in Paris.
4. Describe your sound in three words.
Energetic, eclectic, wild.
5. You’re teaming up again with Don Julio for the event. What’re your favourite Don Julio tequila mixers?
Don Julio have been an absolute dream to work with! We’re biased but we think our cocktail, ‘The Guyana’ which we created with Don Julio is the best. Passion fruit is a key ingredient our cocktail. It works so well with Don Julio.
6. If you could collaborate with any other musician, dead or alive, who would it be?
It has to be Pharrell Williams. We’re like super fans of all his work right from the early Neptunes days.
7. Who’s your dream client?
We’d love to work with Olivier Rousteing or Haider Ackermann. We’re big fans of their work.
8. What’s your pre-night-out routine?
Before our long DJ sets (often four hours), our pre-night routine always includes a big meal to fuel us with energy for the night ahead.
9. You’re based in London and you’re taking over an iconic London venue for the End of Year Party. What’s your favourite thing about the London music scene and its crowd?
We’ve had the opportunity to travel the world, but nowhere compares to London. The crowd here is always up for a good time, embracing the fun without taking themselves too seriously. Once the tunes hit, you can count on everyone dancing.
10. What’s next for you?
We’ve got so many plans for the new year. Next up is our music project and an art soundscape project.
