As we await Haider Ackermann’s debut collection for Tom Ford – following Peter Hawkings’ sudden departure in July – the brand has debuted a sensual SS25 offering designed by the brand’s in-house team.
The high-octane collection, displayed in an exhibition style showcase with mannequins donning unapologetically sexy silhouettes and plenty of glitz, worked to create a picture of the Tom Ford woman. She’s multifaceted, confident, iconic. She wears micro-mini hot pants with short, slim blazers or short, sequin dresses, sometimes with statement sunnies or body-embracing jewels, and shows her sportier side in soft satin trousers, drawstring shorts and satin bombers. The looks, mining into the archives of ‘60s and ‘70s style, felt carefree, but with a drop-dead gorgeous, femme-fatale edge.
Other ensembles featured tiers of flapper fringe, or came completely doused in glitter. Weightless swathes of chiffon dramatically flowed from flimsy tops into sheer skirts, long or short, offering an effortless suggestion for how to dress on a romantic occasion, or perhaps at a summer party. She opted for long and liquidy trousers and tunics at times too, as well as skinny, pinstripe suits with a metallic twist. On her feet, padlock heels teetered – we all know the higher the heel the closer to heaven.
Holding in her hand the brand’s Tara-family handbag in new, compact proportions, she came into focus; effortlessly empowered, a natural, and dressed to the nines.
