MSGM: Ready-To-Wear SS24

There was a curated chaos to Massimo Giorgetti’s latest MSGM collection. The designer wasn’t led by a particular theme this season, instead letting his curiosity for art and youth culture guide his design hand. There’s a freedom to Giorgetti’s method. In his show notes, which read like a stream of consciousness, he spoke of “immersive and hypnotic” fashion, where sporty polos laden in painterly brushstrokes met dizzy floral prints seen across minidresses and bubble skirts.

Throughout, tartans in chocolate brown, lemon, lavender and lipstick red bulldozed into one another across wrap-around blazers and cutesy dresses with bows at the collar and the waist. There was great garb by the shedload here, like crocheted skirts peppered with multi-coloured beads, and prickly tops that looked as if they were constructed from shredded paper. In Giorgetti’s words, the whole thing was “overwhelming and liberating”; totally joyous fashion worth smiling about.
