BFC NEWGEN CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH A NEW FILM SERIES

British Fashion Council have just launched Sartorial Stories – a series of short films in collaboration with Rankin Entertainment to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its Newgen initiative. The longstanding program focuses on nurturing emerging creative talent and with the five-part line up of film, we’ll see past and current Newgen designers interviewed about their journey, community and creativity.

Kicking off with a trailer on August 9, Bianca Saunders – who was named as a “One to Watch” in the scheme’s 2018 edition – was the first designer to tell her story, with the interview dropping on August 11. Success stories like Sinead O’Dwyer, Priya Ahluwalia, Cozette McCreery and Robyn Lynch are also getting in on the action, with the series showing how Newgen aims to build creative and responsible businesses through mentorship and financial support.

The anniversary celebrations will summit with the opening of a new Design Museum exhibition entitled Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion, centering around 300 UK designers and their work. Sponsored by Alexander McQueen and guest curated by BFC’s Ambassador for Emerging Talent, Sarah Mower, the display will run from September 16 to February 11. Pre-book you tickets hereBK
