All The Feels: Prada’s AW21 Men’s Collection is a Journey of the Senses

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ debut menswear outing was driven by the desire for human touch. Created in and out of lockdowns, after months of not being able to hug loved ones, the two fashion titans set upon crafting a touchy-feely collection that tuned into heightened emotion.

Cosy, knitted long-johns acted as a second skin, warming the frames of models as they strode through a tactile catwalk space, designed by Rem Koolhaas. Silhouettes came oversized and felt protective. Swollen bomber jackets in pinks and purples brushed shoulders with teddy bear bouclé coats in gentle hues. There was an air of Raf’s early 2000s collections, now encased in a series of Prada-isms, like geometric prints, which lined the inside of parkas and decorated supersized jumpers.

In navigating this new normal, the designers have imagined a reassuring uniform of ease and elegance.
