Trainer lovers beware: Yohji Yamamoto’s line for Adidas is giving their 2018 grand invention a spicy new makeover. When it came last February, Y-3 Runner 4D became one of those rare collectibles you hear about but rarely ever see in flesh, kind of like the Loch Ness monster of the shoe world. Its geometric, other-worldly soles were constructed through a process that uses digital light projects, programmable liquid resins and oxygen-permeable optics. We barely understand what that means, but it sure does look great. And while the original pair was all about the monochromatic upper, the SS19 iteration is all about the hot red hue of knit. The lacing has also been updated into a suspended, labyrinth of curls and swirls, but the Futurecraft 4D sole is still in the same signature mint green bundle of molecule-like shape. The new Y-3 Runner 4D launches on Thursday and is definitely bound to sold out so make sure to warm up your fingers for then.
The red Y-3 Runner 4D is launching online and in Y-3 flagship stores on January 31st.
