“I have possibly been one of the biggest consumers of Uniqlo over the years, it’s all I wear,” said Jonathan Anderson yesterday at the press preview for his highly anticipated Uniqlo collaboration. If the man himself proclaiming love for Uniqlo itself isn’t enough to convince you to purchase something, then allow us to introduce you to the pieces. “A fetishisation of basics” was the starting point – obviously the word fetish gets us interested – especially when said fetish involves a gorge knit. Think: British heritage, but in a very J.W. way – tartan, ruffles, ties and stripes, added to knits, shirts, skirts and coats (the coats are very good).
For the campaign images, Jonathan called in the usual suspects – Jamie Hawkesworth and Benjamin Bruno – to shoot and style as they do for Mr Anderson’s other gigs (J.W.Anderson and Loewe) resulting in beautiful fuss free images. The best part is probably the price point. It’s affordable – very VERY affordable – my wish list is currently 8 items long and counting. The collection will launch in stores and online September 19th. Get ready kids – this stuff wont last on the shelves for long.
