Platinum Paradise: Late At Tate Britain Celebrates Queer Nightlife

Hoopin

As an office, we consider ourselves well versed in the world of gay nightlife  – some, admittedly, more than others (one unnamed member of Ten Towers enjoys regaling the office with the latest nightclub perversions, recently: a fetish for styling one’s hair with a mix of freshly milked man juice and hair gel – best not to ask) – but, needless to say, all of us are up for a little after-dark fun. The darker the better, truth be told. Pitch black works best. That said, if you, like ourselves, have found that the number of clubs where you are not blacklisted is growing ever smaller, then we come bearing good news – Tate Britain are holding their second event in the Late at Tate Britain 2017 series and you’re invited. Well, sort of. It’s a free, drop-in event and spaces are available on a first come, first serve served basis.

The theme of this one, if you haven’t gathered, is queer nightlife – entitled Platinum Paradise, it’s launched in response to the Tate Britain’s Queer British Art: 1861-1967 (a must-see) and will explore what queer nightlife means to the yoof of today’s London. There will be a packed program of live performance (drag queens, DJs, vogueing) workshops and debates, as well as an amazing sounding queer zine showroom. Add food, booze and a chance to peruse the galleries without 1000 screaming children, and you have your Friday evening sorted. See you there.
