Mugler: Ready-to-wear AW17

It was all about the shoulder at Mugler. Isn’t it always about the shoulder at Mugler? No bad thing – what quite says power woman like a large-shouldered garment? And Mugler’s women have always have been nothing if not if authoritative. They expel this kind of sharp, severe sexuality which the garments here lived, breathed and oozed – pleated leather minis that slashed up the front, tailoring that plunged down the chest, saucy sheer cut-outs, touches of lingerie. So far, so Mugler. But David Koma looked upwards for this collection, up towards the stars, to space. Meant there was something of the Star Treks to this, to which we would cite a specific reference, but we’ve never actually seen it. But it was something about those yellow dresses, with the Mugler star on the chest, or the gold lame get-up, that were giving us hardcore space-age maiden. Call her pumped, primed and ready for take off.
