A new season, a new designer. For her Pringle of Scotland debut, Fran Stringer, the new womenswear design director, “wanted to find a way of celebrating the brand’s history and embracing its heritage, that was relevant to the way women want to dress today, so there is a sense of ease to the way the collection is worn”. And this was certainly infused with ease of wear. think of it as a grungy, English country girl. All those grunge hallmarks were there in a palette of sludgy hues. Rich wools were fashioned into slip dresses, split tube skirts and oversized knits, worn with small seamed bustier tops, a motif that was reworked in the knits to create an illusion of layering. A sort of knit trompe l’oeil.
