“Vulnerability possesses its own unique power, the power of truth,” according the the blurb that accompanies Prada’s latest menswear campaign. Good news for sensitive souls such as myself. Unfortunately, however, I was not asked to star in the campaign, Miuccia pushing me aside for the (probably) more talented trio of Matthew Beard, Billy Howle and Logan Lerman. I suppose they’ve like won Tony awards and been in films and stuff. None of which I have achieved. Yet. Anyway, photographed by Craig McDean, it is a series “of deceptively casual and relaxed portraits” taken against a “wildly textured and graphic wall.” Which means we are redecorating our own walls tout suite. And the deep and meaningful Prada message? “Together, the synthesis of bare non-conformism with the industrial world produces a new tendency of use. The temperament of today suggests a thinking, vulnerable vitality.” Yup, that’s what we thought.
