As popular musical South Pacific once taught us, there is nothing like a dame. Especially a proper, right honourable, Queen Liz-selected one. Which just happens to be what Natalie Massenet, chairwoman of the British Fashion Council and all-round fashion superwoman, will become in this year’s New Years Honours list. Dame Natalie. Sounds good, doesn’t it? She’s receiving it for “her services to the fashion and retail industries”. “I am thrilled and completely overwhelmed to be awarded this honour,” Massenet told the Telegraph. “I also feel humbled by it because during my career I have been privileged to have worked with so many brilliant and inspiring people, all of whom have contributed to the success of our fashion industry.” Congratulations Natalie – do we have to curtesy when we see you now? Bow? And – can you put in a good word for us? I’ll settle for an MBE…
