When you think of Stonehenge, you think of heathen rituals, sun-worshippers and neo-paganism, but there was none of that at the launch of JW Anderson Workshops’ John Harragan-clad store this morning, just lots of beautiful clothes. Which is not to say a visit to this space is not worthy of some kind of pilgrimage, it certainly is, but there’s no need for any kind of sacrificial offering- we worship at the Church of JDubz. And for those who have never seen those legendary standing stones up close in all their sublimity, Harragan’s hand painted mural, which covers every wall of the store, is textured and rough, as though he had manufactured a portal to the weathered surface of the stones via this East London store. We were very impressed, and naturally spent a good deal of time stroking the walls until we realised a number of people staring, with looks of pity and concern. C’est la vie. We highly recommend a visit.
The John Harragan Stonehenge mural can be found at JW Anderson Workshop’s store, 100 Shoreditch High St E1
