Athleticism or suiting? Who says you have to choose? Neil Barrett doesn’t. As demonstrated in this, his AW16 video campaign. He’s exploring his British roots – yep, it’s one thing to look back but a great designer makes the past relevant. This is 1970s. A bit school uniform. But geometric. Like a maths lesson in an outfit. Can we call it a new take on a classic? A cliche, sorry. But here, the influence of past is present but not overbearing. Barrett is from the Dartmoor moorlands, hence the hawks and eagles on the clothes. Apparently they fly over the moors or something. Like a glam Kes. So watch the video and be inspired to grab yourself a bit of the ‘me, decade’ (journalism, yeah!).
