“Be specific” was the title of the Vivienne Westwood MAN show… but wait. Should we still use the “MAN”? Because this autumn/winter 2016 collection was about bending and blending gender, letting men strut out in platforms and asymmetric ball gowns and all manner of fantastical and fantastic stuff. Westwood has always been a provocateur, and this show potentially pushed us further than any of her recent excursion – because, in abandoning political polemic for body politics, Westwood proposed gender non-specific styles that, oddly, wound up oddly appealing.
