Who are the wool-wielding warriors who will battle it out for ultimate glory at this year’s Woolmark Prize? Well, a line-up of Ten favs, actually (what can we say – we have impeccable taste) – Craig Green, Cottweiler, Liam Hodges and Baartmans & Seigel are the menswear nominees, with Ashley Williams, Ryan Lo, Faustine Steinmetz and Danielle Romeril shortlisted for womenswear. But this is but the very start – the winner from this British Isles heat will go on to face off against the some of the world’s best emerging designers (69 from 61 countries) to fight for the AU$100,000 prize and possibly some sort of large crown. A bit like the Eurovision song contest. But with nice clothes. The Worldvision Wool Contest?
The British Isles award will be held on July 5 at the Australian High Commission in London, where the clever lot will have to present one look in merino wool and a six-piece capsule range. The overall winner will join Teatum Jones, Suket Dhir, Rahul Mishra and M Patmos, who have all taken the prize previously. Good luck to all the nominees!
