It’s no secret Ten Towers love a good filter. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of watching our Instagram stories you’d know a certain Greek editrix-in-chief has a particular penchant for the cutest ones Snapchat has to offer. From our very own executive fashion director Garth Spencer to Edward Enninful, she’s ready to get anyone involved. So as you’d expect, when the news hit that Dior Couture were launching their debut augmented reality filter on the Facebook camera, we could hardly control our excitement.
Developed in collaboration with the Mill and Facebook, Tap to Quake enables users to try on the new DiorColorQuake sunnies in all five colours. The 1960s Youthquake-inspired rimless glasses made their first appearance accessorising every look on the AW18 catwalk, which celebrated the power of the 1968 May protests 50 years on. Evoking Alexandre de Betak’s spectacular set design for the show and the subsequent wrapping of the Paris flagship store, Dior’s logo appears suspended at the top of the screen as a banner-like collage of ripped posters. Oh and if you double tap to switch to the the rear-facing camera you can view your surroundings as if through the lenses of the glasses. Pretty cool huh? Try it for yourself. Signing off to take a selfie, share it on social and then invest in some new Dior shades.
See below how that turns out, with Ten Towers members giving a twirl…
