Ten Rounds Up The 2018 Oscars Red Carpet

The one we’ve all been waiting for, the 90th Academy Awards. We begin this segment with breaking (overnight) news. Margot Robbie is officially the new ambassador at Chanel. In da house. So obvs Margot wore custom Chanel Haute Couture and looked totally ethereal. Pure white innocence with that light translucent touch of a little something draped down the shoulders. Also in sleek white was the best boy of the night, Timothée Chalamet in Berluti looking so fresh and so clean. FYI he doesn’t have a stylist. It’s all him, boy has style. Nicole Kidman gave us heart palpitations in that electrifying blue Armani Privé with a slit right up the middle and that huge bow sitting pretty. Well, she is a gift. It was slick and straight to the point. Just how we like it. Laura Dern was in Calvin Klein By Appointment, so simple and streamlined, bias cut with that slit sleeve fluttering.  And as we know all that glitters is golden Versace. Facts. Lupita Nyong’o worked that glittering embellished slinky mesh asymmetric dress with it’s already-winning-the-game gold sash. Blindingly brilliant. Zendaya glided in a softly draped, chocolate brown silk chiffon Giambattista Valli gown. Artfully effortless, gathered goddess-like. She’s got the power. Saoirse Ronan worked pretty pink, all dolled up in Calvin Klein By Appointment. Sweet, sweet Ladybird. Sandra Bullock repped Louis Vuitton, glitterbombing in an ombré halter neck, draped and sliced up one side. A shimmering shine that we’ve seen through the Autumn Winter ’18 shows sparkled on Sally Hawkins. Armani Privé, long sleeved and sharp at the shoulders, falling luxe down to the carpet, paillettes scattered around the hem and a black sequinned belt. Details. And, of course, Oscars Kween Meryl Streep wore a redhot Dior gown. She doesn’t have to do much, but what she does is always just right. The Internet screamed Fairy Godmother in Shrek. Spot on, yes Meryl is everyone’s fairy godmother and in Dior, no less, magnificent. After all these #TimesUp empowered award shows, we must admit, the lack of black or white flowers left us wanting. Leave it to Frances McDormand, who didn’t walk the red carpet but saved the day during her Best Actress speech, getting all the nominated females in the audience to stand up and be applauded. Phew. Regardless of dress code this was a night of power and strength. Will all the ladies please stand up?
