Wedges are back, baby! Chloe’s Fall 2024 collection has finally hit the shelves and you’re certainly not alone in feeling a bit of deja vu. The Maxime Wedges – harking back to the cult style first released as part of Pheobe Philo’s SS06 collection for the brand – are Chloe’s newest footwear addition, and are available in two boho colourways: black or brown.
When creative director Chemena Kamali unveiled the collection back in April, the Maximes didn’t make it onto the runway. Instead, the designer chose to introduce the product via a cohort of celebrity guests who lined the front row in identical footwear, recalling a time before influencers when brand’s would present their inner circles of editors and famous friends with a hero piece to wear to the shows. And for the Fall 2024 show, Chloe It girl and boho queen Sienna Miller was unsurprisingly spotted rocking a black pair of Maximes, sandwiched between Liya Kebede and Kiernan Shipka who also sported the attention-grabbing sandals.
A bold, brown wooden-look wedge makes up the majority of the shoe, while the sandals straps are crafted using certified leather that’s moulded in a style reminiscent of a practical sandal. The wedge has dates, names, key locations and other eye-catching iconography – such as an homage to Chloe founder Gaby Aghion with a bold carving of ‘1952’ debossed into the wedge, celebrating the year Aghion launched the label – relevant to the Parisian label scribbled and scattered across the shoe. Business in the front, party in the back; what more could you want from a pair of wedges?
