Ten Loves: The Céline Folk Pump

Celine 1

And breathe. Céline’s just released their natty new It-shoe, the Folk pump. Which sounds a bit like a dance move, where you might like, slut drop to Neil Young or something, but no. These are shoes. Lovely lovely shoes – criss-crossed at the front, perforated detailing, a sensible 2.75 inch heel with a bit of a slant. So what’s the folk part, I hear you ask? Do they bleat out the hits of Joan Baez on each step like those light up trainers you definitely wanted aged 8? Do they wear flowers in their hair, strum guitars around campfires? No – they are instead a homage to ‘opanci’ Eastern European shoes, which, according to Wikipedia “are considered a national symbol of Serbia, and the traditional peasant footwear for people in the Balkan region.” Time to channel your inner babushka, basically. They come in classic black, optic white and red and will make everything, including you entire life, look better. So treat yourself this Easter weekend. It’s what Jesus would have wanted.

The Folk Shoe is available from the flagship Mount Street store, retailing at £850
