KIM JONES PAYS LITERARY HOMAGE TO CHARLESTON

Book worms, this one is for you. As a fan of modernist literature, Kim Jones is teaming up with Charleston, the former home of literary firebrands Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, now turned art space, for a limited-edition collection of five tote bags. The offering, available now via Charleston’s shop and website, is in aid of a new exhibition titled Virginia Woolf and the Hogarth Press, opening April 1. Each cotton canvas bag takes inspiration from some of Jones’ favourite original Hogarth Press covers, an imprint that was started by Woolf in her living room in 1917. You’ll find Two Stories, by Woolf herself, in red, The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot in blue and Omega Workshops’ Original Woodcuts by Various Artists in green. The exhibition also features loans from Jones’ personal Hogarth Press archive, continuing his longstanding dialogue with Charleston and the Bloomsbury Group. Discover more here. James Hughes

ZARA AND WILLY CHAVARRIA TAKE A TELENOVELA SPIN

It’s the month of high fashion pairings over at Zara, as they follow up the announcement of their two-year John Galliano partnership last week with the release of a new collaboration with Willy Chavarria. The collection, titled Vatísmo, takes its name from the Chicano term of endearment “vato,” as a celebration of bonding and belonging. Arriving alongside a campaign film from legendary photographer and director Glen Luchford that depicts Chavarria himself in a quadrangle (à la telenovela) with supermodel Christy Turlington and Cuban actor Alberto Guerra, the capsule reconfigures Chavarria’s signature Chicano-American workwear fusion for a global audience. Think barrel legs, long-lines and florals abound across sharp tailoring, denim and everyday staples. Launching globally on March 26, discover more about the drop here. JH

DIOR PUTS A STOP TO THIRSTY HAIR WITH SAUVAGE

Dior is once again expanding its Sauvage Mencare line with the introduction of a new haircare ritual inspired by the resilient strength of the cactus, including the Hydrating Shampoo and the Hair Serum. The plant, one of the few that can survive in the arid desert, retains water at night to resist dehydration, making the cactus the perfect symbol for both the product line and the liberated Dior man. Sourced from the French house’s Cactus Garden in Lanzarote – the first of its kind for men’s skincare – they take a low-intervention agricultural approach, applying no chemical input and ensuring reduced watering before picking the cactus pad by hand and unleashing its hydrating power at the Dior laboratories. With a classic peppery, woody scent to boot, you can definitely sign us up! Find out more about the line here. JH

REPOSSI AND SABINE MARCELIS GO THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

Mirror, mirror on the wall, Repossi has something new in-store. Ten years since its boutique’s renovation, the Torinese jewellery brand is channelling the architectural lexicon – material, accumulation and repetition – in a new collaboration with Dutch artist and designer Sabine Marcelis. Taking inspiration from the iconic Antifer ring’s silhouette, Marcelis has installed a set of mirrors within the store breaking the band down to the basics of form, colour and dimension. In response, Repossi has reinterpreted the Antifer Vendôme ring in four gold tones celebrating the materiality of colour. This arrives alongside six new designs in the collection including randomised semi-pavé rings and a four-row ear cuff, all hand-set in its historic workshops. Find out more here. JH

MONCLER SCRAMBLES FROM CITY TO SUMMIT

Ain’t no mountain high enough for Moncler. This week, the Italian outerwear specialists expanded its Trailgrip line with the introduction of its lightest technical sneaker to date, the Trailgrip LP. The shoe, which weighs just 380 grams, is built for both the city and the summit, combining refined design with utilitarian function. Drawing from the scrambling world – a marriage of rock climbing and hiking – the Trailgrip LP is built with a TPU toe cap stamped with the Moncler logo and wrapped in a craggy Vibram outsole that conceals the sneaker’s cushioned midsole. Available now in varying shades of grey, beige, white and blue, this shoe has us ready to go from Stoke Newington to Snowdon. Buy yours here. JH

EVISU TURNS 35 WITH PALACE

Fifth time’s the charm (and 35 too)! As Japanese denim label Evisu marks 35 years in the biz, it’s teaming up with cult skateboard brand Palace for a new 23-piece spring capsule collection. Announced with a surrealist campaign film starring British rapper Jimothy Lacoste as the hero of an outlandish, sakura blossom world, the collection is centred around heavy selvedge denim pieces – pants, shorts and jackets – emblazoned with the iconic Evisu Daicock that delicately contrasts indigo and cherry blossom pink. Meanwhile, Palace’s sportswear edge manifests in weighty, washed sweatshirts and jersey crews and pocket tees, as well as a fine gauge knitted cycling jersey and chunky bomber knit. The accessories cement the collection’s playfulness with three caps and an exclusive, sculptural cherry blossom globe. Available in stores and online from March 27, get in line now to embody the hanami beauty. Explore the collection here. JH

HAPPY BITTERSWEET BIRTHDAY, ELLIE MISNER!

Let them eat cake! With It’s My Birthday, I Can Cry If I Want To, the latest demi-couture contemplation from Ellie Misner, the young London designer is turning her attention to the bittersweet contradictions of one’s anniversaire. The birthday girl arrives to her celebrations in a pristine gown of ivory silk adorned with mother-of-pearl buttons and beads aplenty but is immediately sloshed with a partygoer’s wine that swiftly dries into a crystallised golden stain. Misner’s corsetry is front-and-centre throughout the collection with two near-identical checkerboard dresses leading to social catastrophe, black and navy zipper dresses give way at the bodice to cast your eye to the hip and the designer’s parents’ 20-year-old curtains transform into an unusual “carpet” gown. The centrepiece, a white silk taffeta gown, embodies the traditional confection – the cake – as a pearly brassiere, made in collaboration with jeweller Amy Rileyhaus, cascades into a rounded mermaid tail. Not everything goes right, but this is a party we’re still dying to attend. Find out more here. JH

SASKIA LENAERTS SHOWCASES FASHION’S SOCIAL POWER

This month, designer Saskia Lenaerts brought her social project Rapprochement to Soho gallery Hope 93 in a powerful display of fashion’s revolutionary nature. Based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the initiative teaches former child soldiers in the city of Goma how to tailor, transform uniforms marred by war and trauma into school uniforms for children in rural areas and refugee camps. This was Rapprochement’s first public outing showcasing the scheme’s impact with garments designed by Lenaerts, inspired by Central African relics and made from deadstock fabric donated by Matches Fashion, Johnstons of Elgin and AllSaints, available to purchase as a charitable contribution. It’s moments like these that remind you why fashion is so much more than just a wardrobe. Discover more here. JH

Emily Nixon delivers a delicious selection of gems

Classically beautiful jewels with a slight raw edge… that’s what Cornwall-based jewellery house Emily Nixon is serving up. The pieces, often crafted from recycled material, are a product of the imagination of jeweller Nixon herself – her eponymous label an outlet for slow and thoughtful craft, in such a fast-paced world.

Nixon’s heart-snatching stone of choice is the sapphire, which rears its head often in their collections – take for example, the Lava ring, which flaunts a total of 2.30k natural sapphires amongst a set recycled 18k yellow gold. Serving up rings, bands, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, from freshwater pearl tinged gems to solid asymmetrical hoops of silver – there is a unique piece awaiting any situation. Indulge here.
